So by the “I only touched her skirt, not her skin” defense, it’s OK to punch someone repeatedly as long as your fist only directly touches their clothing, not their actual flesh? ---

I can think of three circumstances when it’s acceptable to grab ahold of a stranger’s clothing: One, if said clothing is on fire and you’re trying to help put the fire out. Two, if you’re yanking the person out of danger – pulling them out of the way of a truck or back from falling off a subway platform, something of that sort. Three, if the person has first grabbed ahold of you or someone they’re immediately threatening, and you’re trying to get them off you/prevent them from damaging somebody else. ‘I don’t like how this stranger’s clothing is arranged’ is most definitely not an acceptable reason. If you don’t want to look at their butt cheeks, don’t look at their butt cheeks. I agree that I don’t like the look of having half one’s butt hanging out in most circumstances; but it’s none of my business if somebody wants to do it anyway. ---
