It’s a statistical certainty, albeit not one provable in court, that this was far from the first time this guy had reported for work with a high BAC. Or bumped his BAC mid-shift with some strategically hidden booze. Only very experienced pros can drink like that and function even a little bit. ---

I was thinking that this guy must be an alcoholic to show up to his police job drunk, and maybe that could be why he was able to handle that much liquor enough to even make it the next day. But damn. I like whiskey but that is just so much. If I had one coffee mug full I’m pretty smashed, and I’m not a lightweight. It’s just astonishing to me. I luckily just don’t have too much personal experience with alcoholism I guess. ---

I heard a story of nurses in training at an army base, noticed that one guy mopping the floor smelled of alcohol, so, for practice, they tested his blood and came up with a 0.40. He showed no particular signs of being drunk, at a BAC beyond even consciousness for most of us. Of course, the liver can only last so long, and chronic high tolerance has a tendency to go south very suddenly. ---

I’m thinking that she crashed deliberately, as an attempt to dispose of the body (i.e., claiming that the person died in the crash). Which, of course, wouldn’t work for many different reasons (both the cause and time of death wouldn’t line up), but that’s probably what she was trying to do. ---

If we knew how bad that smelled, maybe we’d all have been driving that fast to get home and out of the car ASAP. 😉 I like how she was charged with “Interference with a Dead Body”. Yanno, like maybe the body was just walking along and she got in its way, upsetting all its plans for the afternoon. Gives new meaning to the old joke about: “A friend will help you move. A true friend will help you move a body.” I wonder who she was being a true friend to. And why. ---
