This is true, but learning how the “ignore” function works on a message board is something that every civilization only has to do once. Once a civilization has achieved that transformational milestone, it constitutes a technological singularity wherein they can deploy autonomous self-replicating factories to put all life forms on ignore all over the galaxy. ---

I’m not impressed, however, that he is only taking half the blame for things that he wrote. A person’s reactions to what other people write or say is still that person’s responsibility, 100%. If someone can’t control their rage (for example), even when thoroughly provoked, then some internal thinking should be going on about how to keep that rage from having an impact on innocent bystanders. I gather Morgenstern is a fairly popular poster, and I don’t have anything against him (sorry about the gender assumption, especially if it is incorrect) but this rankled somewhat. ---

Roderick, point well taken — but I, for one, find it hard to acknowlege even 50% responsibility when feeling righteously indignant (in my case, more often IRL than on these boards).
