I think I understand now. Is this a generational thing (Millenials)? I’ve heard _vague_ rumors of this on some college campuses. I equate what you are telling me to intellectual artillery: “I can fire on you, but I’ll retreat where I can’t hear you.” You may have an initial ‘high ground’, but I can spot your flaws, and I will lay effective fire upon it. But I’m sorry, did that violate some some space? Sorry, I’m all fired up today. There is no such thing as “safe space” in what you post. I now realize I’ve been arguing with a child. Yeah. My point was not to protect or defend the kid, but to point out grownups don’t need to be wasting perfectly good ammo on him. IMO, and probably typically for my era, I think the ideal adult personality is stronger on defense than on offense. But still packs a KO punch to be used when needed. It seems the modern Internet Warrior generation are the opposite. What little they can muster in effective offense totally dwarfs their pitiful ability to take punishment in return. So they run or erect barriers from behind which they launch their pitiful outrage arrows towards that Mean Old World. On a happier note: It being the weekend, we ought to be getting our fresh shipment of trolls in any hour now. Our latest member [fubayu](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/member.php) is banned already, before we could even admire his handiwork. The mods are working overtime. ---
