But I’m putting money down that **samclem** and **Colibri** have thicker skin than me, not to mention years of experience with the dynamics involved. You ever hear that horrible story of that guy who jumped headfirst into a hotspring? I don’t want to be that guy. His last words were something like, "Why did I do that? That was a stupid thing I did,‘’ as pieces of his skin fell off. One toe at a time, for me. ---

It was a GQ thread about the chemistry involved in body decomposition, since by the following day, the guy was soup. It sounds like his death was near-instantaneous. Decades earlier, a guy dove in headfirst to save his friend’s dog. He definitely was in a state of shock when he first came out of the water, and it took him a few hours to die. As soon as he got out of the water he was blind and people were pulling off his shoes along with his skin. That’s when he commented about the stupidity of his move. Why do I subject myself to research on topics like that? Maybe trying to push the horror of the unknown into the realm of the known, but it always comes back to haunt my nightmares.
