Ad Hominem Grits: Ingredients 2 cups water 1 1/4 cups milk 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup quick cooking grits (not instant) 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter Directions In a small pot, bring the water, milk, and salt to a boil. Slowly stir the grits into the boiling mixture. Stir continuously and thoroughly until grits are well mixed. Let the pot return to a boil, cover with a lid, lower the temperature, and cook for approximately 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add more water if necessary. Grits are done when they have the consistency of smooth cream of wheat. Stir in the butter and serve. ---

Shrimps and the fixings to round out the grits You’ll need: 1 lb or de-veined, de-tailed shrimp 1 lb of mushrooms green onions to taste chile flakes hot sauce cheddar cheese, sharpness to taste bacon, 1 lb ought to do In a frying pan, add cut up bacon and cook until done. Add chopped up mushrooms. Meanwhile in a separate pan, prepare **John Mace’s** grits. Add: hot sauce, flaked peppers, and as much cheddar cheese as you like. Keep on the heat and stir occasionally. When mushrooms begin to turn crisp and brown around the edges, stir in the shrimp and cook until the shrimp turn red. Plate grits and add shrimp mixture. Add chopped green onions on top. Prepare to eat until you can’t move. ---

Color me confused as to why a thread that’s nominally about SDMB rolls has a significant chunk devoted to the discussion of **dougie\_monty** ’s meltdown and subsequent banning. He was a sanctimonious, self-righteous doofus, inexplicably proud of his ignorance of many cultural touchstones that most of us take for granted; short-tempered, easily-offended, and condescending in his writing style. What he was NOT, annoying as he otherwise was, is a troll. I’m starting to suspect that his inclusion in the thread is being used as an excuse to engage in a “ **dougie\_monty** ’s greatest hits”-fest (a type of discussion that TPTB tend to discourage wrt the newly-banned, IIRC).
