**D’Anconia** is your basic soulless conservative jerk incapable of thinking of anyone besides himself, which is fine. It’s always good to have opposing views, even when they’re abhorrent. But his habit of participating in threads just to post some [throwaway comment](https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=21410542#post21410542) designed to be annoying gets old. It’s not promoting some point of view, controversial or non, it’s just a [little turd](https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=21409564#post21409564) in the middle of whatever others are discussing. He joins threads for the sole purpose of [sniping at someone](https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=21355055#post21355055). What is it, dude? Low self esteem? ---

Are you sure he isn’t using the Socratic method? Those posts aren’t really comments. They’re more like questions which make us begin to doubt the essence of our understanding. ---

Yes. Nothing about his posts remotely resembles the Socratic method. He is not addressing a philosophical statement and proving it wrong. They’ll take positions that are not the ones I’d expect from their other posts. Anyways, I really just get irritated by people who use the “Socratic method” as an excuse, and wanted to debunk that excuse. People have used it for other posters, as well. And this seemed a good time to bring it up. To be fair, I was also steaming from the ATMB thread, and frustrated that I can’t come in here and complain about posters in it. ---

I was being serious in saying **D’Anconia** seems to ask quite a few questions. I was joking with the Socratic method comparison. I don’t notice anything too illogical from him, just an obtuseness. Whatever the reasons, on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being obtuse, he seems like he’s on 7 most of the time. ---

There actually was a thread a while back where he would drop one of his turd?s, it would get addressed, then he would drop a slight restatement, which would get addressed, which went on until a mod came in and told him to knock it the fuck off. Literally told him he was enjoined from asking any more questions in the thread.
