I’m not all that convinced that we _get_ that many genuine newcomers. What would attract someone to this board when there are far more interesting places on the internet? I can rarely find a thread I’m interested in reading. The political debates are monotonous, the sexism and racism run rampant, and there’s only so many times one can read “how do you wipe your ass after pooping?” So many good, interesting posters have left, many of them women. With all of that, I don’t think this thread plays much of a role. ---

This thread has been around for nearly three years. It is now approaching 10,000 posts. If what you claim is even remotely true, if it is anything more than just a bizarre delusion on your part, then it should be easy for you to find dozens of examples where a valuable new poster posting in good faith was unfairly criticized here, just because s/he was new. Can you? No doubt among these thousands of critiques there may be an example of an otherwise constructive poster being called out for some passing weirdness, but if you can’t back up your claim with many examples of unjustified attacks, I think your claim can be safely regarded as idiotically wrong. What I find is that a large percentage of the posters who have been ridiculed here were subsequently banned, and there’s a reason for that. ---
