Seems like every summer, there’s a two-day wonder - a poster who jumps into a thread and makes a lot of preposterous claims, never backs up any of them, and babbles at length with a certain amount of erudition but zero interest in engaging anyone who disputes these assertions beyond insults and “because-I-say-sos”. These people drive you nuts, then get banned. In summer 2017 it was SarahWitch: [“This is right down my street, since I’m the premier expert on American law…”](https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=20622461#post20622461) Sarah liked to throw out the term “nation-state” a lot but was vague about why it should have any relevance to constitutional law, and had some interesting things to say about how the Confederacy got a bum deal, since something-something-sovereignty of the People-something. Two days, then kicked off the playground. Last year, we got Rabbi Mohel Skinberg: [“Either way, it is clear as crystal that the U.S. is in real-time collapse: Its Gordon Gekko economy is as “fake news” as anything their kakitocratic clown-in-circus croons; its armipotence is all but nullified by the Digital Age; its status as an oriflame of democracy is all but snuffed…”](https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=21064644&postcount=61) Wait a sec - I think I might sort of agree with that, if only I had the faintest idea _ **what it meant!** _ In any case, the good Rabbi sort of ruined it by telling us [the Confederacy got a bum deal](https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=21069091&postcount=65) (or did he?). Anyway, two days of arrogant fun, and poof. This year’s model was King of the Americas. Do I see a pattern here? Personally 2020 politics don’t concern me as much as the Straight Dope and who is waiting to pounce. ---
