**am77494** is a strange bird, and I have a vague recollection of having had run-ins with him over climate change issues. His gratuitous and rather pompous claims of expertise suggest someone who greatly overrates himself and are a little reminiscent of **SamuelA** , the ultimate examplar of a self-aggrandizing idiot. As far as that particular thread is concerned, he’s correct about the fact that hurricane formation is the result of _ **organized** _ energy, and fortunately for us natural factors often disrupt that organization and prevent hurricanes even with warm sea surface temperatures and otherwise favorable conditions. But regardless of whether a nuclear detonation would be sufficiently disruptive, doing so is the equivalent of burning your house down to get rid of a housefly. We have banned atmospheric nuclear testing for a damn good reason. The whole idea is idiotic.
