As a young kid in the early 60s, we routinely had spam, margarine, velveeta cheese, wonder bread. All the things that Michael Pollan so aptly calls “edible, food-like substances”. And we loved them. The joke on us was when we went to visit our grandmother (who was born in Europe and ate real food), we turned up our noses. Oh no, not that cheese with the holes in it!! :eek: ---
