I can understand you thinking the sex discussions were a bit over the edge and hard to take seriously but honestly, the opinions about race thing are true. I’ll just clarify what I meant in that post since this is the Pit. Unless people are blind, we know that race, gender, attractiveness, class etc…determines how people treat you. If you as a prospective parent have the chance to improve your kids lives by ensuring that their ‘properties’ are considered ideal and refuse to do that…Find it hard to respect you IMO. I’ve dealt with some serious issues concerning my African family because of this. No longer speak to them…well they don’t speak to me because I basically shared some of my ‘racist’ opinions with them. ---

If your opinion is that black people are less attractive than white people, then yes, your opinion is racist. Standards of beauty are subjective and largely based on societal and cultural influences. Even if your opinion is strictly about trying to help children succeed, it ignores the fact that there are many, many other factors that influence a child’s chance at success. Most obviously, a child will have the greatest chance success with _loving parents who love each other_ – so obviously, if two black people fall in love with each other, it’s entirely reasonable of them to marry and form a family (or not, if that’s what they choose). ---
