And Sepp Blatter made João Havelange look like a saint. This progression is remarcable, an even steeper curve that the incompetence of British Prime Ministers, who have all been making Chamberlain look competent and resolute since at least David Cameron, or John Major even. It is a weird thing to behold. ---

Barcelona is really struggling with Newcastle’s intensity the first 12 minutes. Not watching much EPL this year, but surprising to me for the Spanish league leagues vs 12th in the EPL. Early though. ---

While Atletico smash the Spurs and Bayern Atalanta. ETA: just read the live ticker, the Spurs goalie Kinsky gave away two goals and got subbed in minute 17. That’s tough and normally only happens in (ice)hockey. ---

May well have been clown shoes, at least they didn’t have studs judging by how often their goalie and defenders landed on their asses. ---

The way Atlético keeps the grounds has often been critizised, and right now it seems to be particularly egregious. **[Link in Spanish](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/atletico-de-madrid/cesped-metropolitano-punto-mira-tactica-127815799)** from a Barcelona newspaper decrying that the same happened in the Copa del Rey, when Barça lost 4:0 after similar errors by the goalie and other players. Of course they would say that, I am sorry to admit. Still, it has been a well known Atlético tactic for many years, and Mourinho tried something similar several years ago when Barça was at Messi’s peak. The deplorable state of the lawn was not the only reason Barça lost, and concerning the Spurs, I have no clue what’s wrong with them this season, but it may have played a minor role. ---
