Yes, abroad. But in the USA it will boost his ratings. He will brag about winning, he will even openly brag about cheating. And get away with it. Only VAR can stop that, if at all. Let’s hope VAR refs have the guts. ---

But they would 100% be inordinately proud of winning the World Cup, even if 99% of them are the kind of people who, if a ball rolls up to them, would take it with their hands to return it instead of passing it back with their foot. (the worst insult in Argentinian parlance) ---

Doesn’t sound like it was so friendly! Interesting that coaches were shown cards. Back before I hung up my whistle, only players and subs could be shown cards (cautioned/sent off). Technical staff were warned and dismissed. Then again, things have changed in the last few years. ---

It’s listed as own goal in the stats I see, but I’m not sure it deserves to be an OG. It fits the narrative of a crazy game though 🙂 ---

Looks like it was indeed re-scored as an own goal. On the broadcast it was shown as a goal by Sophia Smith.
