WOuld appreciate back up on the later claim - IIRC, I watched tapes of rallies where folks would call out awful stuff. Are you saying those tapes were doctored? ---

I don’t see how you can compare what goes on here to what goes on at the Freep. For the most part any “hateful” speech here is targetted at other posters, who are free to defend themselves. Any “hateful” accusation levied at a public figure is generally met with a hearty, “Cite!”, just as \*\*Scylla \*\*is doing right now. Ain’t no way, no how this place is half as fuit-cakey, nutso, conspiracy theory ridden hateful as The Free Republic. ---

By the way, I just read over at the Freep that one poster is convinced that Barack Obama (Barry, as he’s referred to over there) had a homosexual relationship with a bisexual child molester when he lived in Hawaii. Did anyone ask for a cite? Nooooo. Just comments along the lines of, “yeah, that makes sense.” Just like the SDMB, yessiree-bobcat-tail. ---

Just yesterday Der Trihs told me how Conservatives have racial hatred as their core belief, in GD nonetheless. Nobody challenged it. It’s pretty common. Again, I hung out there for 6 months. I could have been king. However, I prefer the intellectual challenge of hanging out where my opinions and arguments are challenged, not where I’m the leader of an overwhelming majority. I hate to tell you this, but it’s perfect provincialism. If anything, the lefty political shit stinks more here, than the righty stuff does there. Lefty posters don’t get attacked as overwhelmingly with such naked hostility as righties do here.
