The Beatles too: George Harrison had an affair with Ringo’s wife Maureen Starkey after his wife Patti took up with best friend Eric Clapton.

> I remember reading a story about the movie “Rebecca”. Laurence Olivier wanted his wife, Vivienne Leigh, to play his love interest, but Joan Fontaine was cast instead. Apparently, Olivier was so unhappy about it that he used to whisper hateful and filthy things in Joan’s ear when they were shooting intimate scenes.

> At least that’s the Hollywood legend.

Yes, and according to [this](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032976/trivia) IMDb trivia entry about _Rebecca_, Hitchcock put that dislike to good use:

Because star Laurence Olivier wanted his then-girlfriend Vivien Leigh to play the lead role, he treated Joan Fontaine horribly. This shook Fontaine up quite a bit, so Alfred Hitchcock decided to capitalize on this by telling her EVERYONE on the set hated her, thus making her shy and uneasy on the set - just what Hitchcock wanted from her performance.

I can’t seem to find my copy of **Flesh and Fantasy** , which listed dozens of these relationships during the golden age of Hollywood.

I do remember that Clark Gable hated Greer Garson, and detested the slogan for his first movie after WWII: “Gable’s back and Garson’s got him.”

Tisha Campbell (who played his girlfriend, then wife, Gina) famously spent the last season of Martin estranged from its eponymous co-star Martin Lawrence after he allegedly sexually harassed her-- going so far as to film separate scenes they didn’t appear in together.

David Boreanz and Sarah Michelle Gellar on Buffy.

From what I understand is that disinterest turned to annoyance turned to hatred by the end.

Can you toss me a link explaining? I’m a little curious as to details.
