This may be too mild for a true BBQ Pit rant, but it sooo pushes my buttons. (Mods, if it doesn’t qualify, please just move it to Cafe Society or IMHO if you wish) I’m talking about the part at the end of each episode, where all but one rose has been given out. One more lady will be chosen to go on, and the rest will have to leave. We see that one rose is left. Usually, the camera does a zoom in on the lone rose left on the plate. And then… And then… The host steps on stage (every damn time), walks up to the bachelor and announces that there is only one rose left. Then he walks off. WTF??!!! It gets under my skin, it really does! Does this cretin assume the viewers are unable to count to ONE? We SEE the rose! We SEE that it is the only one left! We can go, “Uh, let’s see here…one, uh…that’s all. One rose. Yep, one rose left. One. Yesiir. One rose, no doubt of it.” There is a lot else I don’t like about this show, (my wife likes to watch it) but I’m pretty OK with the usual reality TV goings on. But this.one.thing. just goes through me like a knife. This is the only time I ever, EVER, actually yell at the TV set like it (or he) can actually hear me. I mean, it sends me off into completely illogical ravings. In fairness, Chris Harrison is probably just reciting the script written by others, but damn, I am mad at SOMEone here. It fills time. That’s why. There isn’t any actual plot or script, so they have to find ways to fill the time. Doesn’t that happen (almost exactly this way) on just about every “reality” show? ---

And womenfolk used to complain to us that “the last two minutes of a football game last half an hour.” Now their reality shows cram two minutes of content into 22 minutes of air time and eight minutes of commercials. ---

If he _didn’t_ announce the last rose, well, it would be the most shocking rose ceremony in _Bachelor_ history! twicks, who didn’t start a thread Tuesday to discuss the fact that Jake got rid of not one but two game-playing psycho bitches Monday night ---

Seriously, it’s just this one thing that gets under my skin; I guess because it seems so asinine or something to me. I’m no genius, but before I started elementary school, I could freaking count to one. Further than that, actually. So I don’t NEED TO BE TOLD THAT THERE IS ONE ROSE LEFT!! (sorry. getting wound up again. where are my downers…) To me, it’s just like him strolling to a lamp that is on, looking intently at it, telling us “Just so you’ll know, the bulb in that lamp is lit,” and then strolling off. Master of the Obvious. If they’re going to completely waste air time that way, why not quit insulting our intelligence and just show some clips of…I dunno…paint drying, or lions humping, or something? ---

I agree, but considering the fact that you are dealing with emotionally unstable individuals, every bit of cognitive prodding is necessary…
