Huh, I totally missed that thread and yet I was arguably one of the inspirations for it, or at least I instigated it quite a bit without getting any mod splashed on me 😃 Truth be told, it didn’t occur to me that Lobohan was actually wrong - just that he was thinking of a Georgia case, and I added a reference to Kentucky (invoking Kim Davis). As I said at the time, it wouldn’t shock me at all to find out a Georgia clerk had defied a SCOTUS ruling. Heck, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if a Georgia clerk had refused to register black children to white schools after _Brown_ or grant a marriage license to an interracial couple after _Loving_. I’d be more surprised if stuff like this _hadn’t_ happened in Georgia, southern bastion of tolerance and equality. ---
