> As the Chavez Administration shares the oil monopolies profits with the people-the Bush Regime steals from the paychecks of the poor and subsidizes energy conglomerates. As the Chavez Administration combats hunger, low wages, and unemployment-the Bush Regime gives tax cuts to the rich and creates malnourishment, slave wages, and homelessness. As the Chavez Administration builds a society based on the values of education, unity, brotherhood, and solidarity-the Bush Regime bullies a country into accepting the morals of militarism, unilateralism, backwardness, and selfishness. While the Chavez Administration solves problems through cooperation-the Bush Regime seeks power through coups. As the Chavez Administration sends millions of barrels of oil to poor urban areas in the U.S.-the Bush Regime millions of Americans youth to die in foreign wars. Which country truly needs electoral reform?

Umm . . . so what’s the debate? Is it whether we should have electoral reforms in the U.S.? Sure, I could name at least half a dozen proposed reforms we’ve already debated in GD, including some actually proposed in Congress. Or is it which country, the U.S. or Venezuela, is more democratic? Or whether Chavez’ government has or has not a real popular mandate? Or what?

Well I wasn’t interested in providing pre-packaged sides to choose in the debate. I am just seeing what people think of this article, that’s all. I figured it was the sort of thing that could very possibly easily become a debate. I personally tend to like Hugo Chavez, but my knowledge of him is rather limited, so I wanted to see what people had to say.

I think as people say what they think about the article, the discussion will form itself naturally.
