I wasn’t quite sure this was angry enough to be set in the pit, however, I figured I’d try and stick to the safe side, so if this doesn’t belong here, let this be my apology ahead of time. So, heres the deal, I’ve become particularly confused by someone. I guess its more exact to say that I’ve become confused by his prejudices. First off, the man isn’t the brightest person I’ve met, and he’s a racist and a few other things to boot. However, those are both far more common than I like to think, what gets me is, he hates bisexuals. Let me put some more details in with that, its not the fact that he hates bisexuals that gets me, its more than he’s ok with homosexuals, and he’s ok with people who fake being bisexual, but he has serious, full blown rage towards bisexuals, only real ones (or, ones who claim to be real). Either this doesn’t make any sense, or I got run the hell over by the logic train and don’t know where I am. I’m not quite sure even what good it will do to post this here, I’m just terribly confused for some reason, and I’m not quite sure I should be, maybe some one in here can perhaps, clarify for me, or join me in the dislike of this man. ---

Perhaps it’s because he feels that bisexuality is just another trend for posers, especially females aged 18-24, usually used in conjunction with tattoos and piercings. ---

Is he gay himself? There’s a (fairly small, thank God) segment of the gay population that really despises bisexuals. ---

Actually, he thinks “bisexual” means “likes to have sex with bicycles”. Remember kids–when usuing your bicycle, always wear a safety helmet! That’s why they call it Safe Sex! 😛😃 ---

**Bosda** … “Ow,” and if not ow, then more likely “cold.” Anyway **MrSarcasticus** um, I see how you get to this, and its my own fault, see, I mentioned he doesn’t mind people who fake being bisexual, what I ment was that he doesn’t mind people who do it to look “cool” in other words, I think this is likely the fad bit you’re mentioning. He’s probably just distressed that he can’t fit bisexuals into any of his little mental boxes. To him, people are either gay or straight. Bisexual people screw up his filing system, and as such, incur his wrath. ---

My pseudo-Father-In-Law is thoroughly perplexed and has a rather negative atitude towards bisexuality – um, because I’m monogamous and he’s very old and forgetful, he tends to forget that I’m bisexual. Much of his “unease” (for lack of a better term) is because he just can not fathom it. For example, I gender means very little to me when it comes to a partner. For him, gender is the first most imporant thing. Sexuality is black and white to him. You like men or you like women. He just can NOT comprehend any grey zone as far as that’s concerned. Another thought: Bisexuality isn’t very visible… except for in the one context where it is regularly depicted: The porn industry. You see me with a guy, you’ll assume I’m straight. See me with a woman you’ll think, “oh, lesbians” – so visually (and we humans are a very visual-oriented lot) one of the only ways you can explicitly _see_ “bisexuality” is in the more extreme context of porn. And so it goes heavily into the notion that bisexuality=promiscuity, or bisexuality=ménage-à-trois. etc. So reasons of hatred are: 1. Your partner will run off with someone else eventually. 2. If they like both sexes they _must_ sleep with both – they’ll be unsatisfied without a ménage-à-trois 3. Bisexuals can not possibly be monogamous or faithful And… my personal favourite: 1. Bisexuals gave AIDS to straight people. :rolleyes: Yes, my former best-frined from highschool said this. “Straight people would never have known AIDS if it weren’t for bisexuals.” ---

I’m not saying all bi people are posers, I’m saying that many people claiming bisexuality are posers. If you are really and truly bi, I’m cool with that. Just don’t say you’re bi when you’re not. ---

Actually, yeah, **htns** is right, there definately are people who claim they’re bi for the attention, I’ve known a few who’ve 'fessed up to it, or maybe they were lying. Anyway, yeah, **Miller** and **Eats\_Crayons** you’re probably right. And **Revtim** gets extra points for the spirit I like to see in a pit thread. Funny that the person I’ve been talking about manages to fit so much bigotry into so little. ---

Sounds to me like he got jilted by a bi-sexual girlfriend, who took up with a woman. Either that, or as others have said, he can’t grasp the “grey area” concept and apply it to sexuality. Why do you bother to hang out with this asshat? ---

…It could also be that he feels that bisexual people get to have their cake and eat it as well. Maybe he’s jealous, or can’t handle the area between being straigh or gay. I once knew a guy like this; either the world was straight or gay, and there could be no in-between [because he couldn’t deal with it]. Vlad/Igor ---

Unless I’m way off my game, the definition of “bisexual” is “Someone who is sexually attracted to members of both genders.” A person could be celibate their entire life and still be bisexual, just as a straight person who’s never had sex is still straight, and a gay person who never had sex is still gay.
