Memory: I was a presenter at a conference in St. Louis, and the accommodations were at the dorms for a nursing school that was not in session. I was there one night longer than the rest of the attendees and they had to move me to a room at the local equivalent of the Ronald McDonald House. They didn’t have guests right then so I wasn’t putting anybody out.
I did some shopping and came back with some takeout Chinese. My room had a little balcony overlooking a jazz club. I sat on my balcony in the dark, eating my Chinese food and listening to the St. Louis jazz below me. I sat there till about 2 a.m. and then I went to bed.
