I had a horrible version of the song by Robey, the lead actress on the Friday the Thirteenth TV series.
The song was scarier than the show ever was.

Here’s a link to a thread from two years ago in which we answered this question. Within this thread, I give a link to a thread from four years ago in which we answered this quesion:

Everything has already been asked and answered. Twice, in fact.
Wasn’t Murray Head in the music video playing the game, not watching it?
Your link is to this thread. Which, if you did it on purpose, is hysterical.
Sorry. Here’s the thread I intended to link to:

And rather amusing if it was an accident!
Just to keep the record straight: In addition to the London and Broadway casts, there is also a cheap C.C. Productions of songs from Chess, a live English concert, and the full version that was recorded in Denmark. The last one originally had every one of the 31 songs and was the best version ever done. It flew off the shelves (and good thing I called Footlight Records to have them hold a copy for me). Unfortuately, the rights to 4 of the songs were in dispute, and they were only included on the first pressing. All subsequent pressings have 27 songs, plus a Remix of “One Night in Bangkok.”
Chess pa svenska, or the long awaited Swedish version of Chess is now out. A 2CD set that DOES NOT INCLUDE ONE NIGHT IN BANGKOK. Go figure.
I was just going to mention this. The mental lightbulb click was mighty loud when I connected the dots.
I just wanted to say that i love that song!
That is all!
Murray Head btw was also the original Judas in the album JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.
I think he died a few years ago, HIV-related.
Murray, that is.
Yes, yes Let us drag rsvp out on the street and whip him with heck I dunno what.
I am just grateful he did not BUMP those long dead threads.
Osip, what’s your point? Would you prefer that every time someone new has a question that they don’t do any searching and ask the question again so that a completely new thread will thread will be produced with exactly the same information rehashed as before? Do you want every thread to be reproduced once every two weeks when a new person joins the SDMB and asks questions that have already been asked and answered dozens of times?
This topic was recently covered in the thread Resurrected Threads.

Heh – that thread also contains a “previously discussed in this thread” link!
I’ll have to remember to start a thread on this topic two years from now, just so someone can link to this one.
BTW, I believe Mr. Head is still alive – at least, a quick Google search turned up no information about him dying or being HIV positive. He even released a new album this year.
For those of you in the New York City area, just wanted to let you know that I’ll be playing keyboards for a production of Chess for the Gallery Players in Brooklyn. It really is a great show, even with the aforementioned White Man’s Rap!
And according to his IMDB entry, he’s still involved in showbiz.
If you want to hear the ORIGINAL first ever song realized from JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, a version of “Heaven on Their Minds” released as a 45 with alternate lyrics by Tim Rice, click over to www.tiretracks.co.uk and click on “Jukebox.” I like it much more than the album version.
Murray Head is still alive and doing fine.
