That was quite possibly the most disgusting lunch ever. Barf. It was supposed to be a grilled veggie wrap with seasoned rice with a citrus Thai sauce. And thatā€™s what it was, technically. It was onions, tomatoes, and lettuce, all grilled, with plain white rice and some olives (why?), with a side of coleslaw. There was no seasoning or sauce in the wrap that I could discern. At least the coleslaw wasnā€™t in the wrap, too. I ate a few bites, and left the rest. When it says grilled veggies, I expect bell peppers, eggplant, squash, that sort of thing. Not lettuce. ---

[/QUOTE] Ablative paint is the kind that gradually wears off so that fresh molecules of paint are always on the surface. That, in turn, is supposed to discourage barnacles and other stuff from growing on the boat bottom. This is the desired surface for cruisers and boats that stay in the water for long periods of time. If you have a trailerable boat that comes out of the water every time you use it, you would choose a hard bottom paint with a shiny surface to make it easier to clean every time you park it. And it is also a case in Latin, but that has nothing to do with our boat. Remember I mentioned that there were 2 sets of twins born to coworkers this year and another set on the way? Well today I found out there are 2 sets on the way. Thereā€™s definitely something in the water around King George/Fredericksburgā€¦ Speaking of work, Iā€™ve just got to share this. I was hired in the midst of a hiring frenzy when they were bringing in fresh meat from colleges, experienced folks from private industry, plus some of us career govvies. One of the college kiddies was talking to one of the transferring govvies, and asked ā€œWhat about spring break?ā€ šŸ˜• The kid was aghast to learn that the Dept of Defense didnā€™t close down for a week in the spring. He was further upset to learn that heā€™d have to use his vacation time if he wanted a spring break. Iā€™ve just got to wonder - didnā€™t he come from a home with a working parent? Did his dad or mom get a spring break? Well, mebbe if they were teachersā€¦ Coming home was great fun - both dogs horked within minutes of each other. Iā€™m afraid to ask what nextā€¦ ---

Re: home ownership. I am a big proponent of it, but having both rented and owned, I know that it depends on what you want out of it. I like precisely _because_ of doing repairs and modifications. I like doing that stuff. Fun for me is putting in a water heater on a Sunday evening. ---

Thanks for sharing the tale of the Forest Fire, **BBBobbio** (love that new nick, btw - and the story about the black belt!). Dang, you and Sean both live in the same general area as many of my relatives on my Dadā€™s side; one of my Dadā€™s sisters used to have a house on the road between Suffolk and Gates, an old(er) farm house. My cousins all live in the Franklin/Holland/Suffolk area. Last time I was down there, though, was in 85. ā˜¹ Still nice to hear about the area. And glad that no homes burned! Yay **Swampy** on the temp job! And free beer!! Well, maybe not free, but it should at least be discounted, right? šŸ˜‰ No word yet from my doctor, although her nurse called this morning and said theyā€™d probably call by Friday. In the mean time, Iā€™ve decided to not look up any more info on the Internet because it was freaking me out. Thanks to all who are keeping me in your thoughts & prayers!! Iā€™m home from work, and the dog is walked. We had some HVAC gus come by the store, apparently one of the A/C units has been dead for a week or so. Fixing it didnā€™t help, it was still 76 in the back room when I left. Itā€™s spahgetti and spinach night. Yā€™all gotta quit dissinā€™ Miller. It may be my livelihood. šŸ˜› **Haze** baby dolls gotta have dresses too! Iā€™m at olā€™ yā€™all know whose (whoā€™s?) house. I have reupped his antivirus subscription and am now running a virus scan. Not that I think thereā€™s any bugs cause he hardly ever uses the dang puter but stillā€¦ this stuff needs to be done on at least a weekly basis. I mean, my own dear mother remembers to do it (ok cause I remind her when I call) so a man with a masterā€™s degree in nursing should remember, right? :dubious: Oh well, I guess this one of the reasonā€™s he ainā€™t finished with me yet. šŸ™‚ Maybe I can find a way to use more smilies in this post. :rolleyes: I got the packet from Miller. They are calling it a post employment offer physical and drug screening. Strange name, cause Iā€™m used to it beinā€™ a pre-employment physical and drug screening, meaning if the results are good, you get hired. So, tomorrow, I get to go pee at nine a.m. Friday, I show up at the health services department at Miller at seven-fifteen a.m. for the physical. I have this three page front and back questionnaire to fill out between now and Friday. Hey, I gotta have sumpā€™n to do tomorrow after I pee, so I guess thatā€™ll be it. Oh, and in case anybodyā€™s wanderinā€™, itā€™s seven and a half miles from Miller to ACBGā€™s house. So, I figure itā€™s about ten from my house to Miller. They do give employees two free cases of beer a month, so Iā€™m told. Thereā€™s also an employee store where one can buy beer at a discount but I donā€™t know how much of a discount or even if thatā€™s open to folks who are ā€œtemporary.ā€ When I got there about twenty past five, there was somebody I know (and knew he was doinā€™ this too. heā€™s retired and I think his wife ā€œencouragedā€ him to apply for part-time work šŸ˜ƒ ) there pickinā€™ up his packet. We noticed there was one other packet layinā€™ there so weā€™re wonderinā€™ if out of that group of about twenty people who took that test if weā€™re all they picked or maybe weā€™re just the first cause we had the best scores. We finally decided itā€™s because weā€™re so smart and bright and scored sooooooo high on that test that Miller knew they had to snap us up before anybody else did. šŸ˜‰ ---

I love the weather weā€™re having right now - mid 70s, pretty clouds floating by, low humidity - it was so purty that I took [a picture](http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b75/anyrose/0620071921.jpg) when I got home. The little tree in front of the a/c is my peach tree (the kid of the former owner planted a pit, and it grew). I stared at it a while, watched the birds land and depart and started thinking about the age of trees. I know you can count the rings to tell how old a tree is, but donā€™t you have to chop off a significant portion of the tree in order to do that? leaving basically a stump that will likely grow no further. So, how, without essentially killing a tree, can you determine its age? ---

Ooh, ooh, ooh, did you like _The Bone Dollā€™s Twin_? I really like Lynn Flewelling. And if you want trashy, I [just finished the latest book in the _Kushiel_ series, by Jacqueline Carey. Lynn Flewelling, a friend told me, was a coronerā€™s assistant or forensic something or other, which is why her dead things are so convincing. I want to proudly announce that not only have I not thrown up today, my jeans are starting to not fit. I feel smug. ---
