I have seen 30 random abandoned shoes on the roadside in and around the Nashville TN area in the last two years. ---

That’s not a one shoe mystery. That’s a 30 shoe mystery. Which, being an even number, is much less mysterious. ---

In my youth, it was common to see single shoes by the roadside. Maybe 20 years ago, it became rare. I attributed this to the ubiquity of car air conditioning – thus, no more open car windows. In the past year or so, single shoes have once again begun to appear along the road. Just in case it matters . . . this is happening in Tennessee. ---
