Guys, **uchtungbaby** is insane. Bait him if it amuses you–hey, I like wacky conspiracy theories as much as the next doper–but reasoning with him is an exercise in futility. You may as well argue with a duck. And he deserves pity, not rage. I assume “he.” Given his views on feminism it seems a safe bet. ---

I tried to attend the Gay Science lectures, but they wouldn’t let me stay 'cause I’m a girl. No matter how I tried to disguise my willowy, womanly form\*, my damask cheek gave me away as I blushed uncontrollably at the frank and shocking information I was hearing. - My being a D-cup didn’t help either. I don’t think **uchtungbaby** is insane. Dishonest and stupid, yes, insane, no. Re-read his OP. It is actually rather measured, is, in its own terms, more or less coherent and was probably intended to be no more than off-the-top-of-his-head speculation. Of course, it is also uninformed speculation, but no more uninformed than would be produced by many people with only a passing knowledge of the early nineteenth century. We’ve all seen first posts that are more obviously bonkers. The assertiveness only appears once he is challenged. And the more his ignorance is exposed, the more he has to resort to ever more ludicrous ideas to defend himself. In posts #6 and #18 he is still trying to cobble together a defence from what little he knows (or thinks he knows) about the period. But from then on, having been confronted with hard evidence, he just begins inventing ‘facts’, each one made up on the spot to counter the specific points being made against him. The result is an all-too-obvious mixture of irony, ill-advised bravado and shameless ignorance. He knows it’s all nonsense. Any sensible person would have walked away. So all he’s actually proved is just how stupid he is. ---

I must know. What is “philidomide” and how does one murder an entire generation with it? Also I’m curious why my mother, the rabid feminist, is forever nagging her children (and step-children - _no one is safe_!) to reproduce. ---

I think he means [thalidomide](http://cerhr.niehs.nih.gov/genpub/topics/thalidomide2-ccae.html). How it relates to feminists and murder is mysterious, though. IIRC, it was used to treat morning sickness until it was found to cause birth defects. ---

I actually quite enjoyed that … I was having fun watching the theories get loopier and loopier in the face of some facts … and there were some interesting facts in there.
