I received this e-mail today.

Hello (xxxxx)

I’m looking for a good trans-universal transportation unit. Do you have the McCoy self-generating G series watch or similar newer models available? I also need other items you may or may not have available. Please send a (seperate) email to me at : (xxxxxxxxxxx) if available and let me know your terms of doing business.

Thank you

XXXX
Somehow, I don’t think he’s talking about a Rolex!

They do trans-universal transportation units as small as watches these days?

Write back that you have one you might be willing to sell. Ask if he has a picture so you can know you’re both talking about the same thing. Make up some goofy named “other item” like an LCD Portable Interspace Marquee Advertising Board.

Obviously you haven’t been trans-universal transportation unit comparison shopping lately. Portable is the rage, and really pretty essential. It always sucked to have a stationary trans-universal transportation unit where you’d fire it up, transport, and end up on a parallel earth without trans-universal transportation units of any kind. Then you’d have to build one yourself, which inevitably led to breaking into high security government facilities of one kind or another for the right parts. Work, work, work…

Yeah, the watch-based models will cost you an arm and a leg. Then again, so can some of the cheaper generic brands flooding the market. Transport through and not all your limbs make it. The horror stories I’ve heard about incomplete jumps via cheap trans-universal transportation units!

Ahh, those G-series POS watches are just F-229’s with Swatch bands on them; they’re trying to appeal to a younger demographic.

You’re better off with an E-168; it’ll have a few miles on it, but the stabilizers are guaranteed for life, and you won’t end up stranded someplace where they use bunnies for money.

Good ideas, all! Especially the PU-36.
I did one better. I replied, telling him that I do not carry such items, nor do I know specifically what he is asking for. I directed him to the SDMB, where there is certainly someone who could fill his request, specifically in the General Questions forum. I hope I have not violated some rule here by doing this!
Let’s see if he takes the bait.

Does the G-Series have the illuminated dial? My older F-Series did. That’s the one that they displayed in Ned’s Emporium of Unique Crap, in the little case filled with blue water to demonstrate it’s waterproof qualities. My dog ate it, and unfortunately then must have triggered the activation button. God only knows where he is now.

You’re replying to a 12 year old thread **ud6s8ohgv75c67g9j0im**.

Hey, give poor **ud6s** a break, here! Everyone knows the timeline-insertion precision of those old G-series pieces of crap was wonky. He probably thought he was arriving in 2005.

How do you know for sure that he didn’t just now go back in time to 2005 and create the thread a few minutes ago? If his watch was working, it would be no trouble at all…

Could be done. You’d just have to have it in a wagon trundling behind you.

And another for the battery.

Okay, I read this back in Ought-Five, and have spent the last twelve years saving up. Have thousands of bunnies, can I get the coordinates for Bunny Money World?
