You find a magic lamp. A genie comes out, but instead of offering you three wishes, he gives you just one wish. However, this one wish of yours is absolutely guaranteed to come true. And this isn’t one of those situations where the wish comes true in a bad way, or a way you didn’t intend. This wish is guaranteed to come true in just the way you want it. What do you wish for? ---

Mine is simple and selfish: fertility, so I could have the children I want when I want them. I’ll try to raise them to be the sort of people who can fix world hunger and cure cancer, though, so it will all even out. ---

Uh, I’ll be selfish and say I want money. A cool million or two would be fine for me and my SO, and we could live our lives without too much trouble. I could quit work and go back to school full-time, finish it, and get a job in a field I really like. I could also take courses I enjoy instead of just making a beeline for the end game. ---

I’d wish that nobody would ever have to do without Thoreau’s “necessaries of life” ever again. Those would be food, clothing, shelter, and fuel (for warmth and cooking, IIRC). ---

I wish no human being would ever again be capable of physical violence towards another human being either directly or by instrument - the very thought of it would trigger reactions ranging from headache and nausea to catatonia, depending on severity of thought, never mind action. Either that or a suck of the genie’s cock, because I like my legs. ---

If I can’t wish for an endless supply of wishes, I’ll go for “no debilitating illnesses for my family members”. If that’s too cumbersome, I’ll go for the cash. About $5M should do it. ---
