Thank you to OP for specifying the wish will not backfire. I’m trying to be clever about this, if I really only get one wish (if I can wish for more wishes, infinity wishes of course) then I really feel obligated to solve the worlds problems, which intervention will do the most good? Most of the other posters have come up with my ideas, violence is not possible, control of fertility, end of world hunger or just plain old world peace. I guess I would wish for “whatever change would make everybody in the world happy.” Be really curious to see what that would be! ---

What is wrong with you people!? I wish for immortality… and yes I know of the consequences (getting a life sentence for murder aka twilight zone). I will take my chances, immortality would allow me to achieve anything I want in life… eventually 😃 ---

No Bad luck. I am not asking for great 'win the lotto" luck, just no bad luck. My plane won’t crash, I won’t get some weird disease or cancer, nothing terrible with happen at work or to my loved ones or pets, etc. ---

I would wish for immortality too. Not exactly immortality… more like absolute control of my body. My body would function regularly on a daily basis, but if I focus enough I can have the age I want and live forever. Even change my face when I had to escape from the usual government branch trying to experiment on me. Also, I could replace at will parts of the body that won’t regenerate in usual people, like brain cells or teeth. But, to everyone wishing for global well-being, thanks. ---

OP here. Heh, should’ve had a caveat of not wishing for more wishes (or maybe if you wish for more wishes, things would go wrong with those wishes?) As for my own wish, I haven’t quite decided. Something that would benefit all humanity, or the environment, would certainly be a nice idea. Or I could be “selfish” and wish that I could eat all the chocolate I ever wanted, with no negative consequences. 🙂 ---

I don’t really care how it works- either by some incredible new technology, proper sci-fi wormholes, or by generally buggering up the laws of physics, but I want some practical, replicable means of travelling serious interstellar distances. ---
