I hadn’t noticed that; only criticism. Thanks for the answer.
I’m not the most active fan, so perhaps you all can indulge one more amateur question; are there still hints in the opening title sequence? I recall conversations about that here but never figured any out for myself.

I don’t get that at all. I find the show to be hilarious. It’s more than that but it’s certainly a comedy.

I don’t know. I’d say that they have a few jokes per season. Last season they had Short’s story about his play catastrophe and Martin’s white room. This season, they had the thing with the actors portraying them. But it’s all fairly background and sporadic. I’m not generally expecting jokes to fall, every other moment.

This show is very clearly a comedy, just one that includes murder. But there is no question much of it is meant to be humorous and I am laughing every episode.

There are multiple jokes in throughout every episode. Because it’s a comedy. I laugh every episode multiple times. They also weave in other elements.

At most you could argue it was originally a dramedy–and that’s only because it trreated the murder seriously. It was never “oh there’s a few jokes here and there.” …there is comedy intrinsic in the premise of every character except for Mabel.
Slowly it’s become more of an outright comedy.

If you are looking for a set up, punchline, pause for laughter like a three camera sitcom this isn’t it. That’s true of lots of comedies.

I found the seasons like this:
Season 1 - very funny, decent mystery
Season 2 - still really very funny, still decent mystery
Season 3 - less funny, loved the musical, boring mystery
Season 4 - even less funny, boring mystery
I like the show and it is still quality television, but I’d like season 5 to increase the quality back to those first two seasons.

I am showing up late … of course.
I haven’t watched much tv as in narrative for some years. I hate, “reality,” shows. The last time I watched a show was True Blood. I thoght the ending sucked. Then I tried to watch Grimm. I wasn’t like a fainting fan or anything, but I gave up when it got convoluted.
I really like Only Murders. The mysteriesare usually pretty convoluted, with lots of misdirection. What captures me though is the chemistry among the three leads. I’m also amused by how insane the people _playing themselves act_. You’d think ever actor/ performer is a total nutcase. I binged through it in a couple weeks, now I have to wait until next summer for season 5.

Based on nothing but that, you might like Poker Face. It’s essentially a remake of Columbo, right down to the raspy voice and the (cigar colored) cigarette.

What I do is buy Peacock during the Olympics or World Cup, if they host that. I watch a few shows in addition to my sports thing, then cut them off.

I’ve noticed that any given streaming service will have one or two shows worth watching. But you can’t subscribe to all of them, all the time. So the thing to do is to sign up for a streaming service for a month, binge-watch what you want to see, _and then cancel_. And some services have week-long or month-long free trials.

So, the first three episodes of season five are here. I’ve binged them and so far I’m enjoying it more than some of the other more recent material. But the trio are making really, really srupid (and illegal) choices.
