The last of which occurred at 2:51 AM. WTF! Hey cunts, since this is a for-profit biz, how about boosting your fuckin bandwidth already? Would users even tolerate this horseshit from free sites like IMDB or FARK? I’m fucking PAYING for it and I still don’t get proper, continuous service. There have to be lawyers on this fuckin worthless laggy board. Please please please sue this fuckin website. I will join your class action suit. Take them for millions and order them to supply proper bandwidth already, plz. This pure fuckin bullshit has been going on for FUCKIN YEARS. ---

I’m not a fan of the abusive tone that many of these dead-horse threads take, but I must say I’m a bit bewildered that a website with what must be, what, an income in the six figures–plus advertising revenue–seems to be spending the money on coke and whores. They certainly don’t seem to be spending it on the infrastructure of the site. Surely this site generates enough revenue that the constant problems could be pretty easily dealt with? If so, why aren’t they? I know it’s a given that TPTB don’t ever really have to answer such queries; the noisiest sycophants can be counted on to flood a thread such as this one with brown glurg and thus supply a ready excuse. But I, for one, would find it immensely refreshing to see one of these threads actually elicit a reasonable, concrete response. And people in hell want ice water . . . ---

“Take them for millions”? Are you shitting me? You’re out $14.95, tops, times however many times you’ve re-upped. On editing, I noticed you’ve joined this year. So, $14.95. (And nobody sucked it out of your credit card - you have to actually re-enter all your info.) You’re on the bloody internet, where I can always find something interesting to look at because I’m curious about things. Business is generally not transacted on this site, so you’re not losing money due to server slowness. Just not being able to post does not constitute some kind of loss of livelihood. Yeah, it’s annoying. I have the site time out for me during mid-day (US) sometimes, but I also use an older computer and I figure the memory I have has something to do with it as well. Bottom line: you paid for this service, which for most of the people on it performs as it’s supposed to the majority of the time. Timeouts suck. This site has timeouts. Could they possibly be at your end? Maybe, maybe not. Even if they’re totally the fault of the Chicago Reader and Its Holy Hamster-Powered Servers, the level of vitriol is way out of proportion. In sum, Sanka cures those coffee jitters. Try Sanka! ---

(Missed the edit window.) Ah, I see…brown glurg. No. I’m not trying to excuse the level of service of the site, which should be faster. I was merely trying to say that 1) the level of vitriol (“sue them for millions”) was silly and 2) somebody ought to take some sort of blood pressure meds before his head explodes. Criticisms of the boards are quite all right with me - I get very frustrated when I’m trying to drink my coffee in the morning, read stuff, and all I get are timeouts. Like I said, my computer is old so I assign it some of the fault. Maybe that’s not the case. But seriously…complain complain complain. Do it. I’m doing it right now - the site times out for me during periods of high activity. I would love to have a concrete answer as to why this happens, because it annoys the hell out of me. Calling on lawyers to sue the Reader because I can’t always use my $14.95 to its optimal value is a waste of my time. Apparently other people feel differently. ---

Two choices, find a lawyer that will take your case for under $14.95 or make manifest your disapproval with your browser and not come back here (and not renew, of course). Any other solution will mean more losses for you. There is a whole lot of pipes in these interwebs. Feel free to sponsor whatever other forum you prefer. I detest Sour Apple HIT Soda, but I am not going to sue them for it. I just don’t buy it. The SDMB is painfully slow and unreliable. It actually sucks. For me, as of this moment, the inconvenience of it is more than offset by the value I feel I am getting from it. The minute this changes, I will stop renewing and be gone. In silence, without drama. At any rate, I thank you for the amusement value of posting something along the lines of “this lady cut in front of me yesterday, someone go and rear-end her for me”. Worth the disconnect from last night. ---
