I can has a nap please? Only was needed at work for an hour. Then I ran errands. That took over 3 hours. On the way to Sam’s Club, there was a homeless man standing on the corner with a dog, it made me so sad, he was an older gentleman. I gave him a couple dollars, the only cash I had on me, but I wish I could have done more. I feel guilty for not bringing food or something. Errands are done, buns are rising and baking. After they are done I will take a nap. I hope. ---

I forgot to mention I saw the surgeon this morning for a follow up and to find out why my fake knee hurts so much more than my arthritic one The answer is (drum roll please) I have a torn ligament and a fractured patella! :rolleyes: ---

My kneecap (the bone - the patella), is still “original equipment” - there is however, cemented to the back of it, a plastic piece that glides along the grove in the artificial knee joint. He said, since I haven’t fallen or banged it on anything, that it was likely a stress fracture (since I am carrying a lot of extra weight, and when a knee is working normally (going up stairs, getting up from a chair), it takes on a stress equal to up to ten times the person’s own body weight - I guess because it is figthing gravity) - as for the torn ligament - driving 3 road trips in five weeks probably did that, because it wasn’t until after the 3rd trip that I started hurting so much. The good news is that both will heal with PT and time (and weight loss) ---

It’s 4:45. I’m FINALLY eating lunch. Well, trying to, anyways. I haven’t had more than 10 minutes to myself all day. **Rebo** , I’ll pretend nothing was said about burgers. Because I really really was craving one, but I decided to be good and not go into McD’s. I managed to lose my work pass when I ran out to buy lunch, because the little clip that I used to attach it to my clothing broke… I retraced my steps, but someone must have picked it up (but didn’t hand it in to security, because they’re big fat jerks). This must be Og punishing me for sneaking another cigarette this morning. Sigh. I guess the fact that I skipped McD’s didn’t earn me any forgiveness points, unfortunately. **{{rosie}}** Hope your knee gets better quick. That sucks. Quit O’Clock in 10 mins. Damn The Man, I’m going home on time today. ---

Well, I’m alive. Mostly. Been a hard few days for me – nothing really bad, but it’s put me in a bad mood, and I get reclusive when I’m feeling down; so I haven’t been around. Hugs all around to all those in need, and I’ll try to read, at least, a bit more regularly again. Today was Independence Day here. 60 years, nice round number. People are always fascinated by round numbers… We’ve come a long way, but we still have a long way to go. ---

Also I messed up and said bus station when I meant bus stop. Apparently the nearest one is only like 8 blocks away, and I’m only needing to go 3 miles so I might as well have just walked. Although I didn’t end up going anyway. I still have two more slices of pizza in the fridge, but my tummy’s been real upset lately and it actually feels better if I don’t eat, which is dangerous because for instance last tuesday all I had was a chalupa all day long, then on wednesday I ate a chicken sandwich and wasn’t going to eat anything else but got invited for pizza by a boy and went. ---

Whew - all caught up at last. As soon as I got home from work, the cable guy was here to figure out why we weren’t getting our Encore channels - turns out the outdoor connection fried itself. Strange it only affected that one batch of channels. Once he left, I fed the zoo (Cleo came out to yell at me to feed her) then ran to the pharmacy to get **FCD** ’s BP meds, and over to McKay’s for some groceries, including medicinal ice cream - he and I are both icky sicky - snuffly and coughy and sore throaty. ick. He’s staying home tomorrow, and I may also. I made my sweetie some quick-cooking red beans and rice for supper at his request, and I heated myself a can of clam chowder. We’ll have the medicinal ice cream a little later. My kid called today just before lunch. They’d just gotten up. Apparently she’s got the same sick that we’ve got, but she got to sleep in. They’re doing all the tourist stuff in St. Augustine, plus they had a spa day - massage and hot tub and sauna and all of that stuff. Nice honeymoon, eh? They should get here by the end of next week - they’ve got some loose ends to tie up in Orlando before them can come here. Ah, I understand now **Rosie**. Just ick. At least it will get better with time and all. I’s back from dindin. What? I said we were eatin’ early. I also went by to see JoeDawg for a few minutes. He’ll be at da cave next Thursday and stay the followin’ week while daddy is in Flahrduh. I shall have to ensure he stays on the strict regimen he is subjected to whenever he stays here, poor thing. Anywho, he was happy to see me today. I had catfish fillets with coleslaw and cheese grits. Also hushpuppies. Oh and the fried dill pickles. I have catfish fillets to eat for lunch tomorrow before I head out. Or not eat. I could have 'em like Sunday night. It ain’t like they’re gonna spoil in the fridge in a couple days time. I trust _My Name Is Earl_ is on tonight. I do like that show! Joy cracks me up. Mayhaps I should check the teevee listin’s to make sure. ---

I’m just idly curious what it would look like to finagle a way to fit an ATSC tuner into something like a Philco Predicta so it can receive digital HD signals in glorious black and white. And no, you can’t just yank out the original guts and fit a modern CRT or LCD screen in there! ---
