[Mitt Romney to ABC News’ David Muir, July 29, 2012](http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/transcript-david-muir-interview-mitt-romney/story?id=16881787&page=2): “I don’t pay more [taxes] than are legally due and frankly if I had paid more than are legally due I don’t think I’d be qualified to become president.” Mitt Romney’s campaign, September 21, 2012 (paraphrased): “You should like Mitt Romney; he’s a generous guy! He [paid more taxes than were legally due last year](http://www.businessinsider.com/romney-taxes-2012-9)!” I guess that means he’s admitting he’s unqualified to become president? 🆒 ---

Did anyone think this wouldn’t be caught in… what? 5 minutes? I mean surely his return is complicated enough that they could have hidden the untaken deduction. ---

I take it as a given that he will amend his return, win or lose, after the election, but I wonder if we can ever know that he has done that (without him volunteering the information). I guess not. Too bad–hewill always have his defenders saying, “Yeah, he got his ass kicked in by Obama, but he was a great guy, paid fewer taxes than he owed.” ---
