Wait, this is the SeaBees’ barracks. Aren’t they the ones who built airfields in the middle of the Pacific using mud and baling wire? We should just give them a $50,000 gift certificate to Home Depot, some spackle and a couple cases of beer. That thing would look like the Taj Mahal by the end of the week. ---

According to the news story I read, they realized the shape when the structure was built, but didn’t worry about it because nobody would be looking at it from above. Wait 40 years, add satellite imagery, and we have a problem. Seems to me the solution is to build covered walkways between the buildings. Paint these the same shade as the roofs and you’re good. ---

My question is this: How often does Google Earth update its satellite photos? Even if the $600,000 can change the building’s appearance, the photo on Google Earth might hang around for a while. ---
