And then we could leave? Sweet!
Wouldn’t it be cheaper just to take some black paint and paint in huge letters on the roof, “R U Offended? Call 1-800-GETALFE”
Can’t we just keep it the way it is. That way, we’d have a place to keep these critters .
Wait, this is the SeaBees’ barracks. Aren’t they the ones who built airfields in the middle of the Pacific using mud and baling wire? We should just give them a $50,000 gift certificate to Home Depot, some spackle and a couple cases of beer. That thing would look like the Taj Mahal by the end of the week.
According to the news story I read, they realized the shape when the structure was built, but didn’t worry about it because nobody would be looking at it from above. Wait 40 years, add satellite imagery, and we have a problem.
Seems to me the solution is to build covered walkways between the buildings. Paint these the same shade as the roofs and you’re good.
Surely it can’t cost $600,000 just to build a new roof in the shape of Janet Jackson’s breast, can it?
Nicely put.
I don’t get it. What is that supposed to be? Pieces of felt glued to his face?
Yes, that’s what I read too. After all, how often do you enter a building thinking, “How does this structure look from the sky?”
When I look at the floorplan in the lobby to figure out where room 5237 is.
To make sure you don’t offend anyone, this should read “African American and white”.
No, models are generally taller than the average woman, although plenty of people look down on them. Certainly Naomi’s conduct hasn’t helped the perception.
Don’t mind me, this was a pass-by posting.
This sort of thing happens. We have a store that got moved when Wal-Mart expanded into our space. The new location is great, except that the loading dock is 6 feet back from the road, 8 feet in the air, and faces a busy street.
Yeah, but it could fund a pretty good USO show with a decently popular act for a deployed command.
Except the Guest OP in the linked thread, I don’t actually see any expressions of outrage. ETA: I didn’t watch the CNN link so I can’t speak for it.
I would buy a deck of those in a heartbeat.
This is insane. You have to really be desperate to find something offensive to you if you have to resort to satellite photos.
The Navy already did that for the Google Maps]building across the street.
You should see what’s under there.
I’d get behind this only if they used captured gold the navy liberated from sunken Nazi submarines.
Sailboat
My question is this: How often does Google Earth update its satellite photos? Even if the $600,000 can change the building’s appearance, the photo on Google Earth might hang around for a while.
What they’re not telling everybody is that they’re actually spending the $600K to bribe Google into photoshopping the pictures so the building no longer looks like a swastika.
