Back in Feburary the team I am on at work was out-sourced. Rather than lay-off 1500 people my company took all of it’s employees that were doing the same job as myself and moved us into a different support group (which I greatly appreciated). That basically means that I went from supporting Windows 98 networking to supporting NT, 2000, Exchange 5.5 & 2000, Proxy, ISA, Terminal Server, and IIS as well as some products that slip my mind right now. Well, when I first started my new position I assumed that my manager understood there would be a period of adjustment. But NOOOO!!! We told me that I for my next review (only 3 months away) I would be held to the same goals as the people that had been on the team for 3 years. It kinda pissed me off, but he was my manager and there wasn’t a lot I could do about it. Well, today I was having my lunch in the cafeteria when one of my old co-workers stopped by my table to ask how the new position was going. (Here comes the Oops!!!) I was very honest with him. I told him that I was doing great now, but my manager was an ass. I went on to say that my new magaer could basically eat sh\*t for all I cared, and that I “hated” him. No sooner had I finished my rant when I turned my head and my new manager was sitting at the very next table. I realized at that moment that I was spring loaded in the f\*\*k up position. I’m not sure what will come of it, but I know that if he was trying to listen to what I was saying the he wouldn’t have had any problem doing so. And to top it off, I have a 1 on 1 meeting with him at 9:00 tomorrow morning. Well, that is my latest screw up…would any one else like to share? 🙂 ---

I don’t see how I could top that one. Here’s hoping that your manager was too busy filling his face to pay attention to what you were saying. ---

Good lord, that’s rough. If you were quicker on your feet, you should have, upon noticing your boss, explained (loudly) to your friend exactly why you said that… I remember once having a small fender-bender in the parking lot with a man who had borrowed a coworker’s car. Later, I was sitting in the break room and I made a (feeble) joke about it “only” being so-and-so’s car so it didn’t matter. Who turned out to be sitting behind me? Doh.
