But **Opal** seems to demonstrate her impatience with pro forma frequently. And there is this: there are limited ways to attach a ring to a necklace for quick and convenient removal. She’s not unintelligent and could figure this out herself. The purpose of that thread was not a quick release device for her ring, as someone upthread noted, but to draw attention to it and her new status. If you want us to ooh and aah over your ring/beauty/new car/buckeyes/hot bod/quilt/whatever–just say so. We’ll be happy to oblige. It’s more honest-something that **Opal** herself has said is important to her. I cannot believe that anyone from the Midwest and Ohio in particular does not know of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the nut buckeye or the confection. If is true, that’s her ignorance and she should have thanked the posters for enlightening her–not lectured them on her vegetarian principles (which are bizarre). Is she being Pitted for more than the buckeye thread? I’d say so. This is an example of thread drift, more so than the thread that spawned it. and I am so making buckeyes for Xmas now–I have a craving for them. I’ve never seen them with graham cracker crumbs, though. ---

I’m not from Ohio, and even I know what buckeyes are (yummy!) and that they’re not named after anything animal-related. To my recollection, I have never asked anyone for an apology, I don’t think I ever would ask for one, and find it annoying and irrelevant when they are offered to me. I accept them in order to “be polite” but feel almost as dirty doing so as when I offer an apology myself. It’s a game I don’t understand the rationale for. I don’t care if you say you’re sorry, and I don’t understand why you care if I say it.
