Opening a Comic Shop: What would YOU stock

Yep. Tie-ins - and pushing them on social media - seem almost a requirement, don’t they?

There might be something to learn in this.

I think a “gift idea” section might be kind’ve neat (depending on floor space). Like a guide for people buying gift–“Buying a gift for a fan of X? Consider Y and Z”. This helps them buy a gift, and maybe gets the fan introduced to something new.

Ooo. I like the ‘gift section’ idea. We could stock it with comics and collectibles.

Good one, Manda Jo.

I don’t buy comics but I often tag along with my brother when he visits his favorite local shop (we’re in our 40s but…)

My favorite part about the store is the dog. I hang out with the dog while he browses. I think you need a shop dog

Actually forbidden in our lease.

But we will have shop exotic birds. No kidding.

Are there other comic book stores around the country you can split large orders with? If other owners are cooperative I would assume you could all maintain a large variety of slower moving product. You need those there to look like you have a wide variety of items even if they sell slowly.

American Splendor and KODT are the two I’d get. (not sure what that says about me.)

Looks like you picked the wrong time to [del]quit smoking[/del] open a comic book store.
