> You need to be able to pull back the pop-top part, but I find the handle of a wooden spoon works well after that to finish off the job. Bonus, no special tools needed, assuming you have a long handled wooden or silicone spoon.

I’ve tried this with a regular teaspoon, with some moderate success in some cases. I have a long handled wooden spoon, but I had never thought to try it. I’m not sure if the long handle will fit through the pop-top tab of most cans – I’ll need to check that out.

A news item and a suggestion: For the news item, A megacorporation says on its recent packaging (capital letters and exclamation point theirs): NEW EASY TO OPEN CAP - NO PULL TAB! For the suggestion: This suggestion only works on soda cans / beer cans and any other can that uses the exact same size cap - - TOTAR Can Opener Manual – 24 Pack Transparent Soda Can opener, Beverage Can Cover Protector - as the listing is phrased on Amazon. I was dubious but it works like a magical charm. They are highly reusable so I give some of my spares away. I always keep a couple of them with me. They are small and flat.
