# Opinions: Critique my fantasy baseball team, please

So we had our draft yesterday. It’s a standard 4x4 league. $260 on 23 players. 14 position players and 9 pitchers. 6 in the minors. 12 teams in the NL-only league. Simple enough, right?

I think my team is pretty strong. But I wouldn’t mind hearing some opinions.

Just some random thoughts.

Your pitching is alright, low on saves.

You’re sort of screwed at catcher, neither Petrick or Zaun is gonna be a full-timer this year. And you overpaid for Petrick. You also overpaid for Preston Wilson, but Pierre for $10 was a steal. Oh, 4x4. Less of a steal. Berkman was stolen at $15 too IMHO. Burroughs at 3B is a risk, and compounds your lack of power on offense. Sexson, Bags and Berkman (and possibly Abreu) are your only 30+ homer guys. Wellll, my experience with NL/AL only leagues is limited. Your team looks pretty good.

Maybe a little low on wins. Your ace (Vasquez), while being great for K’s, ERA, and WHIP, has no shot to win more than 15, being in Montreal. I forget which pitching category gets eliminated for 4x4 (in my experience 5x5 is standard), but it’s not Ks, right? If it is, I think you overpaid for Vasquez.

Trammell should be good for $2, and it escapes me how you got Smoltz for only $5. If he plays all year he’ll be good for 40+ saves. Burnett and Oswalt are also good values for $5.

All in all, pretty good. I’m not qualified to speak authoritatively on NL-only 4x4 though. How come you aren’t playing in the SDMB league on Yahoo?
