exactly what I was going to post so thank you
I’ve always heard that AARP is essentially an insurance broker disguised as a seniors advocacy organization. I joined briefly when I turned 50 and never found any of the benefits useful to me, so I dropped it. Who knows, when I need to look into Medicare maybe I’ll look at it again.
As best I can tell, AARPs political position is that safer Social Security & better Medicare would be good for retired people. In other words, to the older folks of RW persuasion, they’re raging Socialists out to destroy America.
Actually even RW folks love SS and Medicare. I had conversations with them back when I was working. They would piss and moan about socialism so I’d ask if they were going to take SS and Medicare. Their response was always “What? Of course I am. I paid into that system all my life.” You would think they really don’t know what socialism is.
