Opion on Debt Collectors

IDK if it’s unlawful, but it’s highly prevalent. I see it from many major creditors.

An activity constitutes activity, not just payment.

I think the law is that no “activity” after the original default can reset the seven-year reporting clock.

Actually, my mom picked up by accident and they asked for “Lowed My Cellphone”. Confused my mom said: “Who???” and they answered “Lowed My Cellphone” to which my mom said: “Sorry, there is no one here by that name.”

:confused: My name is not that uncommon by any stretch, but cutting off the first chunk was really weird. Like, it would be similar to asking for “Phen Smith” when you’re looking for “Stephen”.

They did not identify themselves either, I googled the number in my call display.

:: shrug::

I haven’t defaulted on any debt (just have to pay off my credit card for my recent Xmas purhcases and that’s it anyway) and I’ve been living in the same place for so long that any creditor I’ve ever had ought to know my current mailing address and I haven’t received a single demand letter from anyone.

I’m wondering if they’re trying to track down my father? (Deceased.)
