4-0? No way.
1-0? Sure, if the batter is a speedy guy and a good bunter, I’d try anything to get him on base and give me a decent chance to get the tying run in.

What if the bowling pin would grow up to be Hitler?

People have come back from a 4 run deficit in the bottom of the 9th before. If it’s 12-0 you might be an asshole for bunting, but 4-0 is still a “play as hard as possible” scenario.
I concur.

God. You win.
I would bunt if the defense was giving up the bunt. It’s doubtful that the defense would be playing back in a competitive game with a good bunter at bat. I might show bunt and then swing away, but I would do everything I could to get on base.
Now if I did end up bunting for a single, I would do it knowing full well that I would be getting beaned in my next plate appearance against that team, and rightfully so. Just because it’s the right play doesn’t make it the honorable one. Baseball has a long standing unwritten code of ethics. But fuck ‘em, I’s gettin’ mines.
