Any discussion of Kate Winslet’s goodies is fine with me. To understand Oprah’s reaction, you have to understand what Kate Winslet looks like. It’s not fair to judge Oprah based on what your reaaction to a normal woman would be. Kate Winslet’s image on screen and in photos does her no justice; none whatsoever. She looks good on screen and it’s still not even close. I saw - actually, almost was crashed into by - Kate Winslet in LAX once. Sometimes you meet a celebrity and are surprised at how plain they are. My best buddy and I once accidentally stumbled onto the set of “girls club,” the fames tw0-episodes-and-out lawyer show, on a San Francisco set, and met Gretchen Mol. She’s really small and birdlike and not at all the sex goddess she looks like on screen. Lots of other celebrities are similarly unimpressive in real life. But Kate Winslet, holy flurkin’ schnit, I am here to tell you, the woman was standing there in a pair of jeans, a T-shirt and a windbreaker or something like that, and the beauty was enough to kill you. I was amazed; I knew immediately who it was, as she’s pretty distinctive, but at the same time could not believe this woman I’d seen on screen a thousand times before, who was pretty good looking but no more than lots of other actresses, was the apex of feminine beauty I saw before me. You understand, immediately, why every director wants her to show off the goods; she oozes charisma and sex appeal. I was entranced. She said “Oh, sorry,” and her voice matches her looks. I said “No problem,” stared, and then regained my senses and looked around - and every male in sight was staring at her. Some were drooling. After I’ve gone gay for George Clooney I’m switching back to straight for Kate Winslet. ---
