It’s not a toomah.
When trying to google jucheck.exe I saw many claims made that there are fake versions of this pop-up that are not signed by Oracle America Inc. which will try to install malware.
On advice of Fear Itself I tried Revo uninstaller, uninstalled all traces (so far as I can tell) of everything “Java” or “Oracle,” but the problem remains.
What are the current symptoms of your “Java” infection?
I’m guessing Minecraft. That’s the reason I have Java installed on all my home computers. And why I am a hero to my boys and their friends. Yay me.
How do we keep this company’s pop ups from popping up. I get them all the time and have grown weary of pushing the no button? They seem to have a whole line of probably useless programs that they are trying to sell to the uninitiated.
Did you read the rest of the thread?
Yeah, read the thread. If you aren’t going to update it, then you should uninstall Java, but that will break any applications you run that need it.
I have always had a problem the the juckeck.exe, seems they always cause a problem. I looked to see if it was in my computer it said no, however I looked up Java and the icons were completely different colors. The one in my programs folder shows a white background with a multi colored coffee cup, maybe blue & orange. The pop up thing is orange. Typically the problem goes away when the juckeck.exe is uninstalled…if it is not too late. They have been different kinds of malware as well, some very bad and some only requiring uninstalling or the restore to an earlier time procedure. Once I had to go to an expert and have an entirely new OS installed, causing me to lose some good programs. :smack: Although, I am not entirely sure if that was caused by one of those pop up up dates, maybe, maybe not.
How does one get rid of the pop up thing trying to invade? If I want a Java update I can go to Java’s website and get it right. I do the same with Adobe as I have had trojan horses from these pop-up and will not use them again. I suggest that you all do the same if you are worried about security problems.
Good grief. I thought we had put this one to bed. Repeat after me–jucheck.exe is a legitimate program.
I know BrainGlutton has probably already figured this out, but, for anyone else, the prompt he is getting is Java requesting permission to be able to uninstall itself. I’m not sure why it’s calling it an “update,” but that’s what it means.
