# Orange is New Black prison question

I’ve had accompanied students in orange jumpsuits and unaccompanied with ankle monitors in classes at community college and university. There are a lot of release/furlough programs, depending on one’s status.

As one prisoner pointed out to me, he had been making ten thousand dollars a week dealing drugs. He accepting to risks of being arrested and imprisoned (or being killed by a competitor) as a cost of business. We certainly weren’t going to teach him any job that was going to allow him to make that kind of money legally.

small county jail, but one of our frequent flyers (with a serious drinking problem) was an electrician of great skills. Whenever he was residing with us, we took full advantage of his skills. When a line cook from a local restaurant was convicted of domestic violence, you bet he was put to work in the kitchen!
