I’ve had accompanied students in orange jumpsuits and unaccompanied with ankle monitors in classes at community college and university. There are a lot of release/furlough programs, depending on one’s status.
As one prisoner pointed out to me, he had been making ten thousand dollars a week dealing drugs. He accepting to risks of being arrested and imprisoned (or being killed by a competitor) as a cost of business. We certainly weren’t going to teach him any job that was going to allow him to make that kind of money legally.
