But on a more serious note, re-reading that strip I see that the panel where Roy says Belkar will die soon is inset in a scene where O-Chul is threatening to kill Belkar. Is that juxtaposition foreshadowing? ---

My theory is that the MitD is one of the Eastern pantheon gods. My guess is Hephaestus. I don’t know how that works in with D&D mechanics. ---

I think it will be consistent with all the clues, but the Wow factor won’t match the Dragon vs Dinosaur fight. It will be Wow enough for me, and a nice demonstration of Rich’s improved drawing skills. I’m not sure how broad its appeal will be. ---

I don’t know for sure what Monster-San is, but I will resolutely and absolutely hang my hat on this: He doesn’t originate in any D&D sourcebook. He’s probably had D&D stats published at some point, because everything has had D&D stats published at some point, but that’s not where he originated. ---
