In a D&D-adjacent campaign I wanted a character with a scar and had to work at it. The healer ran out of mana at an inopportune time, the healing process had started by the time she was recharged, and _Cure Light Wounds_ isn’t _Remove Scar_. ---

Nale did have a moral compass, it was set to “Fuck you Dad (please love me)”. Now it’s spinning freely and it’s honestly a bit of a lottery where it ends up. Once you start valuing the life of a gleefully homicidal half-orc, it’s a short step to valuing everyone else’s life too. Or not. ---

Yeah, that’s where it starts. But even that level of reciprocation (as opposed to purely transactional relationships) has been beyond Nale to date, so this is a step forward. I don’t actually believe it will end with him becoming Good or anything, but maybe enough of a positive change to make some difference at a critical point. ---

Keep in mind that rewarding loyalty is more of a lawful trait than a good one. Perfectly consistent for a Lawful Evil devil. ---

Sorry, I’ll have to be be reminded: was Nale 1.0 _Lawful_ Evil? Or is his resurrected version beholden to Director Lee any more than to Directors Cedric and Nero?
