Seems we’re really getting ahead of ourselves, considering that, with the exception of Roy, nobody’s died yet that V might have an interest in being not-dead. ---

Well, **something** will, I suppose. But if it’s the death of one or more of his family members, I really think Burlew is going to make him live with the consequences. Don’t mind me, though. I’m just enjoying the ride. I wish Erfworld would update more often, though. ---

Actually, the worst part is, V isn’t evil-influenced, everything V does is ENTIRELY of V’s own will. Sure, V may be hearing voices, but they’re just echoing V’s thoughts, so if V DOES force Darkon to do whatever it’s entirely on V’s head. V’s not drowned with evil, V’s drunk with power. ---

Taking the soul of an elf wizard is nice, but it’s nothing compared to shifting the balance of the multiverse towards evil. That’s why they offered him the deal in the first place. I don’t know if they want to take control of the Snarl for their own purposes or simply destroy the world, but in any case, V’s their ace in the hole. ---

A few ideas I have : Perhaps they intend to release the Snarl after luring the Good Gods into range and let it shred them, then the Evil Gods remake the world again ( as all the Gods did after the Snarl first appeared ), in their image. Perhaps they intend to release the Snarl and have it kill ALL the Gods, removing their divine competition. The Snarl is theorized in the comic as being deadlier to Gods than other beings; they may think that they can handle the Snarl where the Gods can’t. Then they carry out their storm-the-Upper-Planes plan mentioned a few strips ago, and afterwards remake the world themselves, in their image sans Gods. Or perhaps they intend the above, but won’t bother to remake the world. ---

Presumably they want it for the same reason that Redcloak wants it (spoilers for Start of Darkness): [spoiler]The Snarl is out and out stated as a godkiller; that’s something that is not just hinted at. Even in the web published strips it’s stated that it killed an entire pantheon. The Dark One (who may or may not be involved with the hooded figures), who is the god of goblins, has had a generations long plan to have the high priest of the goblins harness a gate and then wipe out the gods who created a cruel, Player Character-centric universe where the demihumans got the very short end of the stick. It’s a safe bet that the hooded figures want it for the exact same reason. They may not have the same hit list as the Dark One but they probably don’t want to undo reality.[/spoiler] ---
