But why in the world would it be in a laptop form factor, and not the touchscreen or hybrid one? While you can argue that a mouse is superior to a touchscreen, there is no way a touchpad is superior. And that little nub?

Heck, I’ve been trying to get a touchscreen laptop since 2005–the only problem was that the graphics hardware was always severely underpowered.

I’m not going to argue with what you’ve seen, but this is absolutely ridiculous. There’s actually a purpose for a desktop–a more powerful computer that you can carry. There’s not really any reason not to have a touchscreen on a laptop.

I sincerely hope this is just because people haven’t seen so much reason to upgrade their desktops, since there’s so little a bargain model from a few years ago can’t do–as long as it has enough memory and a decent graphics card.
